I retired the original version of this blog many years ago, shortly after it became a finalist for Best Sports Blog in the 2010 Philippine Blog Awards.
What can I say? Paid work just got in the way, which should always be the obvious priority, and so I couldn’t find the free time to keep on updating the blog. I decided, however, that I would at least create a repository of the boxing and MMA stuff I’d written all these years (even after the original paid URL of the blog was taken over by some shady online business after I’d reluctantly let it expire).
Incidentally, four years ago, I found myself writing about sports again (along with political commentary and news), but as a full-time journalist for an English news website here in Mexico City. I wrote about all kinds of sports, and decided to post the boxing coverage and columns here in this repository when I left the job. And when I found out that I could take back the original Pinoy Fight Scribe URL, the easy decision to bring back my blog was cemented.
So, officially, this is Pinoy Fight Scribe Part Deux (well, actually, The Hurt Business. But still.)
What can I say? It’s great to be back.
Allow me to quote a former boxing editor of mine, using his favorite line to end his articles:
Stay tuned.
